Platinum price per ounce

Platinum is traded internationally in US dollars. One troy ounce (31.1035 g) currently costs 1,701.00 USD, or about 1,511.82 EUR. What platinum is used for

A large share of platinum goes into industry, above all catalytic converters, especially for diesel vehicles, as well as the chemical and glass industries and medical technology. In jewellery, platinum is valued for its durability and white colour; in Germany it is often stamped 950.

What moves the price

Because demand is largely industrial, the price reacts to the economy, car production and emission rules. Mining is concentrated in a few countries, mainly South Africa. See also the silver price and the palladium price. Not investment advice.
